Kitto is opening a call to London-based artists for a group exhibition and one-night film programme at ANNEX, hosted generously by The Koppel Project at their Elephant and Castle gallery.

The exhibition is live to the public 3rd to 6th September 2026, with install on the 1st and 2nd and de-install on the 7th and 8th, marking Koppel's 10th anniversary year.

What we are looking for

There is no prescribed theme. We want to see what artists are making, and curate in response. We expect themes to emerge from the submissions themselves; that emergence is part of how we will select. We are less interested in picking "the best" and more interested in finding a balance of ideas and concerns that feel important right now.

Submissions can be for the gallery show, the film night, or either. Gallery: any medium suitable for installation in ANNEX, including sculpture, photography, painting, sound, installation or mixed media. Film night: single-channel moving image work, up to 10 minutes. Extracts of longer works are welcome, just say so in your description.

Who can apply

Artists based in London, self-identified early-career, we do not apply a fixed definition and you decide whether this fits you. Applications from individuals and from collaborative duos or collectives are welcome.

If you are making work for your degree show and it is not finished yet, you can still apply. Submit images of the work in progress or a clear description of what you are making, and we will consider you on the strength of the proposal. If you are selected, we are open to substituting a different recent piece if your degree work is not available, and site-specific artists will not be penalised by the format.

What selected artists receive

Inclusion in the exhibition at ANNEX, live to the public 3rd to 6th September 2026, or in the film night within the run. Gallery artists receive a fee of £200 and film artists a fee of £50, both paid by KitMapper. A van is provided by KitMapper for artist transport, ringfenced and not deducted from your fee. Every selected artist also gets a one-hour technical consulting session with the KitMapper team to use on a future project, and promotion across Kitto and Koppel channels.

One selected artist will additionally receive a Kitto equipment hire prize of up to £1,000 towards a future exhibition or production, equipment hire only, and a full day of technical consultation with the KitMapper team.

Every applicant receives

As our thanks for taking part, every artist who submits to the open call receives a 10% discount code for Kitto kit hire, valid for twelve months. Whether or not you are selected for the show, we would love to support your next project.
