ART Xdirect, an active DI box. It takes an unbalanced instrument or line signal, a laptop or a guitar, and turns it into a balanced mic level feed that can run a long way into a desk without picking up noise. Runs on a 9V battery or on phantom power from the desk, and switches between them itself. The battery is not included
